Painting "The Bone Bar"

For years now I have been taking art classes.  Different wonderfully talented teachers that have TRYED to teach me techniques that I sometimes have a tough time grasping!!

It is always fun to just let go and do some painting that is just for fun..Easy..cartoon like pictures of my favorite subjects..DOGS!! Yeah..I love the little furry, lovable critters. Here is the latest picture that I have painted.  It is on the side of the "BONEBAR" at our store in Carlisle.  Yes, I can't help adding some advertisement for the store..HA! Carlisle Country Living Agway. This is like it is named..a dog bone bar.  No alcohol..just dog treats. I guess to a dog a dog bone is just as much fun as a good cocktail..:)

I loved doing this project!!

Just a thought..Could sharing too much info. be a bad thing?????

I have been thinking for a while how much information people give on facebook. I am surprised that more people are not robbed because of the info they leave on facebook..
I am sure there are predators that watch and see where people are going on vacation and when they are away from home..

I think if we are going to put so much info out there for anyone to see you might as well just go for it

For example just write this..

Hey everyone,,,we are going on vacation this week..we are leaving at 9 am on Tuesday. Can't wait to go to warmer weather. We are so lucky to be able to vacation for 2 weeks in the sun. I just wish I had gotten the neighbor to watch the house, but they are all on vacation too..The darn repairman was going to come and fix the lock on the garage window but he didn't show up..Anyone know a dependable repairman. I couldn't find the ladder to replace the security light outside, so I guess that will have to wait until we get back. Oh by the way, I got this really neat timer for the lights at wal-mart to turn the lights on and off so everyone will think we are at home. You should try one, they are really great!! OK, have to go and pack I am so excited..Wish me a great trip!

Just a thought..its great to share and we all love to share our life on facebook...but maybe some of us should think when we are sharing EVERYTHING with EVERYBODY because you don't really know who everybody is. :)))))

Swimming in the pond and what not to do on pain meds.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the dentist only to find out that I was going to have to have a tooth pulled..AHHH! As a child that doesn't seem so bad but as an adult this is an almost tearful event. A week after this I was told that the pain was what they called a "dry socket'. Weird words for a reason to be put on vicodin.
Since pain meds are such a wonderful thing..what can really be better than starring at the wall for 10 solid minutes and having nothing to worry about. YEAH!!
We all need a brain break every once in a while..
But here are a few things not to do on painkillers

Take the dog for a Walk
This feels like a long crawl thru sand. A block can feel like a marathon in quicksand.
Try this one..it is really fun :)

Drive
This is seriously dangerous and should never happen even though I know people do it every day...really stupid!

Chew
You can forget you have a tongue and chew it off..HAHA!

Clean the fish filter in your pond
This is funny but can be dangerous. I decided to do this after my first dose of vicodin.
Leaning over the pond I actually fell headfirst into the pond. Now getting out of a pond at 65 with shoes on is a tough thing to do. The water is seriously cold and the bottom is slimy so getting footing is really hard. Then pulling your self out is a feat in itself. Not to talk about the bird poo and fish poo that you swallow...AHHHH!!

Basically what I have learned is this...don't walk, chew, or try to function like you do normally just sleep on pain meds. and definitely don't try to do some tasks that require balance.

or you may be
Swimming with the fishes like I did...Have a good one. Deb

Boring Friday and things to do for fun!! Have a laugh!

I guess each one of us has had a boring day...Even if you have a ton to do ..some days are just boring..you know same old cleaning..same old work..same old same old...Well here are a few things to do if you are bored.

Go shopping with your shirt on inside out and see if any one notices the tags.
Sit in your car with a hairdryer and point it out the window..see if cars slow down
Go to wal-mart and every time they announce something. Hold you ears and yell..Not the voices again!
Go grocery shopping, grin at everyone and tell them "I have new socks on"
Skip everywhere is stead of walking.
Get on an elevator..look at the buttons..and say "wonder what these are for?" then push them all.
Look sideways in the store and say to no one " Didn't I tell you to stop talking"
Ok..and last of all for today...Go into a dressing room at a store and yell.." there's no toilet paper in here!"

       Have a good one.!

Ellas art and fun with grandchildren

A lot of people that I talk to say kids aren't as intelligent now..I disagree. I actually think they are smarter in some ways then we ever were.

A Little story about my granddaughters cleverness!
My grand daughter hasn't lost any of her teeth yet.  Disappointed by not having a visit by the tooth fairy.
She knew her brother had just lost a tooth..so..she went into the room her brother sleeps in and took the tooth out from under his pillow and put it under hers..Her brother being smart figured this out..The best part was the two of them made a deal to split the money they got..I am sure my grand daughter worked this out doing the puppy dog eyes thing. LOL

I used clever to stay out of trouble.
I used my mind like that but mine reason was always different.
I was playing in the barn...we lived on a farm for a time when I was in my teens.
My dad said not to play in the barn with out your shoes.. of course I did.
Unfortunately for me, I stepped on a nail..It took me quite a while to hammer a hole through the shoe bottom in the right spot so I could prove that I did have my shoes on.

Old and New Snow Days

I can remember when I was little and we would pray for snow days because we would get to play outside, eat chocolate snow ice cream., drive our mother crazy, and watch TV.
Wow, chocolate snow ice cream no wonder our generation has medical problems...do you think the air was cleaner or is it dirtier now. The chemicals were actually stronger then but not as many of them. Oh, well it was still wonderful..
Snowball fights...yeah. Staying out until you practically had frostbite, but to young to care if you did.  Sledding into the wee hours of the morning...and if you were REALLY lucky riding your horse in the snow.

We were lucky enough to have a very smart and resourceful dad who bought a sleigh...AHHH!! My horse in the picture..star would pull the sleigh. Great memories.
This must be what my grandparents always said were the good old days..They don't all sound so good, but these are a few I wouldn't mind living again.

WHAT A DUMB IDEA!!   But, a cute one :)

One of my biggest problems now is taking my dog for a walk in the snow..The other day I was trying to figure out how Do you layer clothes on a dog??? I told my husband the only thing I had warm enough for my furry kid Chewy was her pumpkin suit from a couple of years ago..of course being a guy he said " who cares just wear it " Yea!! That will be just lovely. We would sure get some stares and laughs. Then I was thinking maybe boots. HA! Couldn't I just put glad bags with rubber bands on her feet...or small garbage bags. HEHE!
Recycling , oh why not..come on!  But I decided I would put her 2 most heavy sweatcoats on and take her out..Remember the movie where the kid fell over because his mom bundled him up so much to go outside. Well, it was a repeat only with a different kid. She couldn't walk..stood and looked at me like..is this fun??? No...this is really stupid..Oh well..we went and we definately walked slower but we did get outside.

Maybe I won't take her next time..she can just laugh at me trying to walk in the snow with my layers on.
